Zeal to Do Something

Mira Devi resides in Naulakha village of Shri Nagar Panchayat Samiti of Ajmer district. The main occupation of the villagers is agriculture and allied activities such as animal husbandry. Mira Devi had husband, two sons and two daughters, both of whom are married and residing in their in-laws' homes. Because of continued drought, financial condition of the family worsened and despite hard labour of her husband, meeting two ends was very difficult.

She learnt about self help group being constituted and became member of Sheetala Mata Self Help Group. As a member she participated in al the activities of the group like training and exposure visits. She got a desire to do something.
Mire Devi took a loan of Rs 5,000 from the group and opened a cosmetics shop in her home. She started running this shop along with her household chores. When income started looking up she also started selling her articles in the neighbouring fairs. Today Mira Devi is earning about Rs 2,000 per month. This easily meets expenses of the family even as agriculture and animal husbandry related works continue.
