Gramin Mahila Vikas Sansthan

Risk mitigation pilot project is underway in three panchayat samitis of Ajmer district since February 2010. So far 2,570 people have been covered under the project.

Objectives

• To understand risks in the lives of SHG members and their families and make them understand the same
• To identify risks of 750 to 1,000 SHG members, link them with micro-insurance and reaching information about social security scheme of the government

Activities

• Awareness generation among members through insurance literacy camps
• Imparting information about insurance instalment payment on the basis of risk being faced by members and motivating them for appropriate insurance cover
• Associating family members other than SHG members with insurance
• Linking members falling under social security scheme with the scheme

Achievements

• 1,100 people covered with insurance
• 281 people filled forms related to widow pension, old age pension, disability pension, etc., under social security scheme. So far 46 people have got benefit of the scheme
• Five people who died in the meantime got insurance benefit ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 48,000
